Horror Venue
Digital & Technology Operations for Entertainment Venue
14-module technology stack for a haunted attraction: IT infrastructure, 55 cameras, AI character, ticketing, and visitor tracking.
Overview
Architected a complete 14-module technology stack for a haunted attraction venue, covering IT infrastructure, security and experience cameras, AI-powered interactive character, ticketing systems, and visitor tracking. The project required integrating multiple vendor solutions into a unified management portal while ensuring reliable operations for thousands of daily visitors.
Context
The client is a premium haunted attraction opening in the heart of Barcelona. The venue needed to deliver immersive horror experiences while maintaining operational efficiency, visitor safety, and seamless guest flow management. With a target of processing 500+ visitors per night during peak season, every system needed to work reliably from day one.
The challenge
The client needed to build a haunted attraction from scratch with modern technology infrastructure. They required everything: network infrastructure capable of handling 55+ IP devices, security cameras for staff safety, experience cameras for visitor video capture, ticketing and access control, restaurant POS integration, employee scheduling and management, and an AI-powered interactive character that could engage visitors in real-time. All systems needed to integrate into a single management portal for unified operations, with redundancy built in for critical systems.
Our approach
- Conducted comprehensive site survey and requirements gathering sessions with operations, creative, and technical stakeholders
- Designed Cat6a network architecture with VLAN segmentation separating security, operations, guest WiFi, and IoT systems
- Evaluated and specified camera systems: 40 security cameras with edge AI for staff alerts, 15 experience cameras for visitor video capture
- Architected centralized management portal using Retool for the frontend, PostgreSQL for data, and n8n for workflow automation
- Designed AI character system using Inworld AI platform with custom persona development and conversation flows
- Conducted detailed evaluation of ticketing platforms comparing ROLLER vs Convious across 20+ criteria
- Specified RFID/BLE wristband tracking system for visitor flow analytics and experience personalization
- Designed 30kWh backup power system to ensure critical operations during outages
What we delivered
- Complete 85-page technical proposal covering all 14 integrated modules with specifications
- Vendor evaluation matrices with scoring for cameras, ticketing, POS, and networking equipment
- Network architecture diagrams including rack layouts, cable runs, and VLAN configurations
- 6-month phased implementation roadmap with dependencies and milestones
- Detailed budget breakdown separating equipment costs, installation, and ongoing service fees
- AI character creative brief including persona definition, conversation trees, and technical integration specs
The impact
The comprehensive technical documentation enabled the client to confidently proceed with vendor selection and begin implementation. The modular architecture allows for phased deployment, reducing upfront capital requirements while ensuring all systems integrate seamlessly.
